This high quality, waterproof 100W folding solar panel is designed to provide free power for charging 12V/24V batteries, for example in vehicles and boats (motorhome, caravan, camper, narrow boat, yacht etc) or any other system with a 12V/24V battery or battery bank. This is the ideal solution for experiencing the benefits of solar without the permanency of a mounted solar panel, as this panel can be folded and stored away when not in use.

This folding solar panel is supplied without a solar charge controller, to offer the flexibility to choose the controller best suited to your application. You can use your existing solar charge controller with this panel or it can be paired with any of our solar charge controllers. We offer a wide range of controllers; with features including LCD displays, MPPT/ Dual Battery/ Buck-Boost capability, mobile app connectivity and more – providing you with increased control over your system. This folding panel also allows you to remotely mount a solar charge controller in a convenient location for easy monitoring and quick access. This folding panel can be easily connected to one or more similar folding panels if necessary. The entire system can then be connected through a larger solar charge controller to increase the energy yield.
The folding solar panel comes with 5m (bare ended) solar cable to connect the panel to your choice of solar charge controller. The design incorporates a stand which is easy to set up and adjust, while the handle and latches ensure ease of storage and portability. The storage case included with the panel is made with a layer of foam which provides protection for the glass and the frame, and prevents any accidental damage. In addition to this, the solar panels’ corners are protected by plastic shields, which reduce the risk of damage.
Folding solar panel – use cases
This foldable solar panel is suitable for off-grid applications such as campervans, boats and tiny houses. If you don’t have room on the roof of your vehicle for the amount of solar you need, this foldable solar panel is perfect. It can be stored away inside when you’re on the move. When you park up for the day, simply set up the foldable solar panel to catch the rays and recharge your system!
When used in a campervan setting, we would recommend a minimum solar array of 200W. This will ensure that you are able to generate enough solar power even in winter or cloudier days. An open circuit voltage of 15V or higher is required to charge your system.
Solar charge controllers
Once you’ve decided on the size of your solar array, make sure you find the correct solar charge controller! You can calculate your maximum open circuit voltage by adding together the voltages of each of your panels (if wired in series). Your maximum open circuit current will remain the same (when wired in series). Victron charge controllers are sized based on these 2 numbers – e.g. the 100/30 charge controller is suitable for an open circuit voltage up to 100V and an open circuit current up to 30A. To use a Victron charge controller with a folding solar panel, you will simply need a charge controller to MC4 connector cable to connect to your charge controller. Then whenever you are stationary, simply plug the MC4 connectors attached to your solar suitcase into the MC4 connectors on your charge controller.
