TN Power AGM batteries are perfect for off-grid applications where deep discharging is required, but weight and size are not an issue, or budget is more limited. They are a maintenance-free VRLA battery, so there’s no need to add water or acid during application.
The TN Power 230Ah AGM battery weighs 59kg and has M8 threaded connection posts.
Lifespan of TN Power AGM deep cycle leisure batteries
- 80% DoD – 600 cycles
- 70% DoD – 700 cycles
- 50% DoD – 1100 cycles
This means that an AGM leisure battery specced to provide 3 full days of power based on your daily power usage, when used every day (i.e. in full-time usage applications) will have a lifespan of around 3-4 years. In this setting, we would recommend that in this instance, you only regularly discharge your battery by up to 65%.
When used in part-time applications, such as in a campervan used for holidays, it will have a lifespan of around 8-10 years. For comparison, a lithium leisure battery of the same specification with full-time usage will have a lifespan of 15-20 years.
AGM leisure batteries – use cases
AGM leisure batteries can be regularly deeply discharged by up to 80% of their total capacity. This means that a large portion of the battery’s capacity can be accessed. The lower price point of AGM batteries, along with the fact that they are maintenance-free, makes them perfect for many off-grid applications.
For full-time applications where the battery will be in use every day, and where weight and space are important factors, it can be a good idea to consider lithium batteries.
