EcoFlow

EcoFlow produce stylish and state-of-the-art portable power solutions for off-grid vehicles and houses, including portable power stations, solar panels, and their own ‘Power Kits’.

Who are EcoFlow?

EcoFlow was founded by a group of battery engineers who wanted to empower people to untether from the grid. Since the release of their first portable powerbank, they’ve been producing slick, innovative gear which makes good on this ambition. Their bread and butter is portable power banks and fold-up solar panels. Recently, they’ve added fixed solar panels and their own branded ‘Power Kits’ to their range.

Ecoflow’s products tend towards the high-end, but they’re a perfect example of products that are premium in both price and performance. EcoFlow’s portable power stations are very high spec in terms of charging time, performance, and overall lifespan. The same is true for their portable and fixed solar panels. Finally, their new Power Kits are a high-performance solution for off-grid power systems.

Read on for a breakdown of EcoFlow’s full range of power stations, portable solar panels, and Power Kits.

EcoFlow power stations – a versatile off-grid power solution

Portable power stations are a really versatile answer to the question of off-grid power. They’re an ‘all-in-one’ power solution, containing a battery, inverter, and charge controller. This allows you to power devices and appliances when you’re off-grid, and they can be recharged by connecting solar panels. We’ve got a great deep dive article that explains how they work, and how to choose one that’s right for you.

EcoFlow’s portable power stations all feature clear, descriptive screens which tell you everything you need to know about the status of your battery. For tighter control and closer monitoring, EcoFlow also have an app, which works with every one of their devices. The app is fully-featured well designed, giving you a host of options for customisation of your battery.

Ultra-fast charging

EcoFlow power stations stand out from the crowd with their extremely fast charge times and overall lifespans. Their original RIVER powerbanks charge from 0-100% in 1.6 hours on mains power, and the newly upgraded RIVER 2 models achieve this in just one hour. That’s a staggering lead over competitors, such as Jackery and Bluetti.

Impressive lifespan

EcoFlow power stations are also differentiated by their long overall lifespans. The original range have a lifespan of 800 cycles, meaning they can be fully discharged 800 times before reaching 80% of their original capacity. The new RIVER 2 and DELTA 2 models increase this to an incredible 3000+ cycles. This longevity is backed up by EcoFlow’s generous 5 year warranty. Only Bluetti’s power stations come close to this figure, claiming 2500+ cycles to 80%.

EcoFlow power stations additionally incorporate a battery management system (BMS) to maintain the health of the battery, and are generally lighter than their counterparts from other brands. The principal downside of these powerbanks is that they are more expensive than others on the market. They’re not a budget option, but if you want the best, you will notice where that extra money has gone.

Let’s take a look at the power stations themselves.

The RIVER 2 range – workhorse portable power stations for your everyday off-grid needs

The DELTA range – large power stations for big off-grid power and home backup

The DELTA range bridges the gap between portable off-grid power and dedicated home backup. These power stations incorporate the same battery technology, ease of use features, and build quality as the RIVER range, whilst pushing the capacity and power much further. In addition, every one of the DELTA power stations is expandable with extra batteries. This allows you to create a modular power bank with a potentially huge capacity.

The DELTA 2 has a capacity of 1024Wh, and is the most portable of the range. This model would be easily suited to off-grid traveling where the RIVER range doesn’t quite cut it, such as family campervan trips. The DELTA Max and Pro start at 2016Wh and 3600Wh respectively, and can be expanded far beyond this. Similar to the Bluetti AC200P/Max and AC300, these are ideal as an alternative to generators at outdoor events, or as power storage in your home. They can also be useful for powering high-wattage appliances where you don’t have easy access to a mains socket, like in a workshop or garage.

DELTA 2

The EcoFlow solar panel range

EcoFlow have a range of both fixed and portable solar panels, which are as sleek as their powerbanks. Every EcoFlow solar panel generates power with premium monocrystalline cells, with a high solar conversion rating of 20-23%.

Portable solar panels

The portable panels pack away into an integrated carry case, which doubles as a kickstand when the panel is unfolded. The 220W model incorporates a second set of solar cells on the rear face of the panel, which collect ambient sunlight reflected from the ground, further increasing power generation.

Each EcoFlow solar panel is designed to work seamlessly with their portable power stations. Because of this, they really are plug-and-play, and can be easily chained together. Plus, their portable panels are highly weather resistant, with an IP68 rating.

110W panel

  • 51.4 × 42 cm
  • 3hrs to fully charge a RIVER 2

160W panel

  • 68 × 42 cm
  • 2hrs to fully charge a RIVER 2

220W panel

  • 183 × 82 cm
  • 1.5hrs to fully charge a RIVER 2

400W panel

  • 236.5 × 105.8 cm
  • 50mins to fully charge a RIVER 2

Fixed solar panels

Traditional, fixed solar panels have recently joined EcoFlow’s range. These are available in both flexible and rigid options. Each of them shares the high conversion rating and weather resistance of the portable panels. Additionally, the flexible EcoFlow solar panel has the feature of being incredibly bendy, allowing it to conform to the unusual contours on the roof of a campervan.
